Help
New here?
All my blog entries are accessible via the Archives menu, and the latest ones are on the homepage. Some more information to bring you up to speed can be found on my About Me page, and do take a wander through my gallery if you have time to browse. If you’d like to comment on something I’ve written, you can register with the website in a jiffy, and then simply look for a comment form at the end of any blog entries that interest you. Alternatively, if you prefer to keep things between you and me, do feel free to contact me privately.
Problem with the site or your account?
Please contact me with details, and I’ll do my best to help as quickly as possible.
Can’t find something?
Try using the search box on the right-hand side of the page. If you are getting too many results from your search, you can reduce the number of hits by streamlining your search text. For example:
- Searching for sewing thread will give you pages containing either the word sewing, or the word thread;
- Searching for “sewing thread” (note the quotation marks) will give you pages containing the exact phrase; and
- Searching for sewing and thread will give you pages containing both words, even if they don’t appear together.
The current search engine isn’t very good – I’m currently building a new one. Meanwhile, do contact me if there is something you can’t find.
Want to subscribe to updates?
The best way to stay up to date is to keep an eye on my blog here at Sea of Stitches, as I will normally try to mention everything I’m making.
Newsfeeds, AKA RSS (what’s with the orange icons?)
The little orange icons represent newsfeeds, which enable you to see when I’ve added new content without having to keep checking the website yourself. If you don’t have a standalone news reader, don’t worry as your Web browser should also recognise the feeds. You can subscribe to my blog by activating the feed at the bottom of the pages. Click on the little orange icon and indicate your preferences; your browser should then create bookmarks for you and automatically update them as I write new blog entries at Sea of Stitches.
Things to know about news feeds: Feeds rely on you checking your browser links to see if the feeds are updated; if you want your news feeds to be a bit more proactive, try a standalone news feed reader as it works like an email application does, by fetching your news while you make the tea. Incidentally, check your email application as well, because most of the modern ones will be able to fetch my feed directly into your inbox for you.
Subscribing via email
I am not currently offering this as an option because I am under the impression that most people could emulate an email-based subscription using feeds, since they appear just like an email-based update if they are set up to come into your inbox. If you would rather receive updates via email, however, please let me know as I have my own list server and can look into getting this set up for you.
